Looking back: 71st Fife Scouts 1985

Here we turn the clock back to January 1985 to feature the keen and eager young faces who were the youngsters of the 71st Fife Scout troop, which had just reformed after a gap of four years.

The Scout group, based at Christ’s Kirk-on-the-Green, Leslie, had a long five decade history, first starting in 1931.

However, as with most youth groups, even those with a long history, keeping going depends on adults willing to give their time and support and the interest of new generations of children.

Sadly, by 1981, dwindling numbers had forced the Scout troop to disband, although the Cubs were able to continue to meet and keep up the Scouting traditions.

As this picture happily shows, it was to be only a temporary hiatus.
