Looking back: Barron's at the Shorehead

Isn't this a lovely nostalgic picture?

The famous Barron’s store in the left hand corner, where locals wait to cross the road as traffic comes down the High Street - we haven’t seen that in a long time!

We think it was taken in the 70s, but maybe you recognise some faces and can shed some light for us?

Barron’s closed in December 2006 after almost 100 years in Leven.

It opened at the Shorehead in 1913, run by George and Jean Barron.

It was then taken over by sons George and Jack, and then grandson Rodney.

We’re very grateful to Methil Heritage Centre for sharing this picture with us.
