Looking Back: Mossmorran 1984

This aerial view of Mossmorran was taken in 1984 with six huge liquid gas storage tanks dominating the scene.

Work was coming to an end on the £400 million which was owned by Shell and was about to swing into production.

At the time it was the biggest construction scheme in Europe and it took 2700 workers to complete the plant, putting a total of 9.3 million man hours.

In the top right of the picture is the administration block which was built to house the anticipated 300 staff who would be working permanently on site.
