While the thousands of Fifers who turned out to welcome the royals were disappointed by the Queen’s absence, the presence of Prince Philip helped make up for it.
The Duke of Edinburgh started his brief visit in Inverkeithing and Lochgelly, before making a trip to Kirkcaldy’s War Memorial Gardens.
That was followed by a stop off at the Museum and Art galleries, accompanied by the Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Lord Kilmany.
