Looking back: Templehall from the sky 1976

This picture, dating from December/January 1976, show the Kirkcaldy areas of Templehall and Sauchenbush.

The steel houses visible in the foreground were erected after the Second World War to house the influx of miners to the area.

At the left of the picture can be seen the multi-storey flats at Valley Gardens – the first to be built in Kirkcaldy.

Visible at top left is Dunearn Shopping Centre, Templehall Community Centre, as well as Templehall parish Church.

The picture was taken as a massive regeneration programme was set to get under way at the end of January 1976 and the area would be transformed forever.
