Looking back: The show must go on for Glenrothes Operatic Society

OCTOBER 1974: Townsfolk from across the area flocked to Glenrothes High School in this week to catch Glenrothes Amateur Operatic Society stage its version of the ever-popular musical '˜My Fair Lady'.

And the evening proved a huge hit with the audience and was hailed a big success. For those involved in the production it was a case of ‘the show must go on’ as there was a spectacular come back. The previous year the society had to cancel its show, ‘Call Me Madam’, because of a shortage of men to take on some of the parts. Amateur dramatics and stage productions have a rich history in the town with Leslie, Markinch and Glenrothes regularly hosting new productions.
