Lorry strikes rail bridge in Kirkcaldy

A lorry has struck a railway bridge in the centre of Kirkcaldy, causing widespread disruption.

The incident is at Dunnikier Road at its junction with Victoria Road.

Part of the area was closed around midday following the incident – the first there for a number of years.

The bridge has previously been struck more than once by buses.

Engineers from Network Rail are assessing the damage, but there is no word of any impact on train services in and out of Kirkcaldy which sits on the main east coast line..

The driver of the lorry was not in jured, but the impact of the incident has caused traffic congestion in the area.
