Major plans could transform Fife village

A north east Fife village could be transformed after a planning application to build hundreds of new homes was submitted to Fife Council.

Persimmon Homes has applied to build 357 residential units with associated engineering, landscape and infrastructure works at Seggie Farm, in Guardbridge.

The area designated for the proposed development stretches all the way from the A91 to the back of the village’s primary school.

In the conclusion to its design and access statement, it says: “The proposal presents an excellent opportunity to provide a high quality new residential development with a mix of new family homes on an allocated housing site.

“The development aims to retain, where possible, key landscape features of the site including the mature woodland which provides a natural enclosure.

“The design solution is an opportunity to provide a pleasant and welcoming new neighbourhood within the community.”

The application also states that protection must be given to the area around Seggie House and the Walled Garden, and that the housing not impact on the area.
