A teenager has been remanded in custody accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Kirkcaldy car park.

Leo Stewart (19), appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court over the incident in the town’s Turiff Place at around 10.30pm on Sunday, September 13.

A major probe was launched after police said the 26-year-old woman had initially been spoken to by her alleged attacker in nearby Aboyne Gardens.

She was then allegedly attacked in the car park beside a block of flats.

Stewart, of Kirkcaldy, appeared on petition facing charges of sexual exposure and sexual assault.

He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.

Stewart was remanded in custody ahead of a further court appearance next week.

A spokesman for Police Scotland’s Fife Division said: “Officers would like to thank the public for their assistance with this investigation.”
