A 33-year-old man has been arrested following a report of a disturbance at a badger sett in Cupar earlier this year.
The man was arrested on Thursday, December 17, and charged with offences under the Protection of Badgers Act 1982.
A report has been submitted to the wildlife and environmental department of the Crown Prosecution Service.
Wildlife and Environmental Coordinator Lindsay Kerr said : “We received the report in February after a member of the public found a large active badger sett in a small woodland area of Cupar with a number of its entrances obstructed.
“We conducted a thorough investigation in conjunction with the Scottish Badger Association and I’m pleased to say we have been able to arrest the suspect.
“I hope this arrest will highlight that we will always carry out robust investigations into all allegations of wildlife crime.”
