Man found guilty of co-ercing a woman into having sex with a man and sending a revenge porn video faces heavy prison sentence

Clive Weatherhogg (42) was found guilty by a jury at Dundee Sheriff Court today (Wednesday) of charges of co-ercing the woman into having sex with the man and sending the revenge porn video.

Weatherhogg set up a series of hotel sex sessions for the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and Edward Amobi over the course of a year.

He made a string of extraordinary demands, including asking to be in the room tied to a chair while the pair had sex and telling Amobi to buy a male chastity device and have it sent to Weatherhogg for him to wear.

He made the pair film their sessions when they refused to let him be in the room or live stream it over the internet.

Weatherhogg later sent a video of the pair having sex to the victim’s sister as she, the victim and their entire family sat down to Christmas dinner in 2014.

After Weatherhogg was found guilty, a sheriff warned: “The maximum sentence for this charge is life imprisonment – he should prepare himself for a heavy prison term”.

During a five-day trial, in her evidence the woman said she felt “blackmailed” by Weatherhogg into having sex with Mr Amobi.

But Weatherhogg, giving evidence in his own defence, refuted any suggestion he had been the “driving force” behind the rendezvous.

He said: “I never asked to be in the room when they had sex. She was pulling the strings.”

Weatherhogg, of Balmalcolm, denied on indictment to three charges under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act.

However, a jury of nine men and six women took 95 minutes to find him guilty of the co-ercion charge by majority and the revenge porn charges unanimously.

At the close of the evidence Weatherhogg admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

Sheriff George Way deferred sentence until next month for social work background reports and released Weatherhogg on bail meantime.

He said: “He has to understand that the maximum sentence for the co-ercion charge is life imprisonment.

“It’s not a matter of any lightness and he has to anticipate a heavy prison sentence.”
