A man has appeared in court accused of assaulting and trying to rob an elderly couple in Kirkcaldy.
Mark Gilchrist was arrested after Police Scotland released CCTV images as part of their inquiry into the attack in the town’s Coal Wynd on August 22.
They launched the investigation after a 70-year-old woman had her handbag snatched.
She and her husband sustained injuries following a struggle with the would-be assailant, and police said they were “extremely shaken by the experience”.
Gilchrist (37) of Fife, appeared in private on petition at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court facing charges of assault and attempted robbery.
The case was continued for further examination and he was granted bail ahead of further court dates being set.
