Firefighters rescued a man from the flat and gave him first aid and oxygen for smoke inhalation and burns to his hands before he was taken to Victoria Hospital by ambulance.

Crews searched the other flats and led three other people to safety.

The three people, two women and a child, were checked over by the ambulance crew but did not require hospital treatment.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service would like to remind everyone of the importance of having smoke detection and making sure that it is positioned correctly and that the detectors are checked regularly.
