The body of a 60-year-old man was recovered from the water off the West Sands in St Andrews last night.

It is understood that the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat was launched following reports being made around 6pm yesterday that a local man had gone missing.

Police Scotland confirmed this morning (Wednesday) that officers attended St Andrews Harbour at around 9pm where they met the RNLI lifeboat.

A spokesperson said: “Enquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
