Man seen running from street following Kirkcaldy shooting

Police in Kirkcaldy have renewed their appeal for information after shots were fired at a house in the Seafield area of the town last Thursday (May 19).

The incident took place at Craigfoot Walk around 10.30pm and caused damage to a parked car outside the house and to the house itself. No one was injured.

Detective Inspector Colin Robson, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have established that a male was seen running off from the address following the sound of shots.

“We are looking into this sighting along with a report of a dark coloured van seen in the area prior to the incident and seen leaving after it.

“Officers have been in the area all weekend carrying out door-to-door inquiries and I would like to thank the local community for their continued assistance and patience.”

Inspector Graeme Neill at Kirkcaldy said: “We would like to reassure the public that this type of incident is very rare and that this was not a random incident.

“In addition we are following positive lines of inquiry.

“We are in the process of contacting residents in the immediate area of the incident to provide reassurance and maintain contact with those most affected.
