Man sustains head injury following assault in Fife

Police are appealing for witnesses following a disturbance in Fife at the weekend during which a man sustained a head injury.

Investigating officers are now looking to trace another male who may have been injured in the assault and who may have information relevant to the ongoing inquiry.

The altercation happened at around 3.30am on Sunday on St Margaret Street near Dunfermline Library.

A 33 year-old man was subsequently transferred to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment but has since been discharged.

Detective Sergeant Kieran Marsh of Dunfermline police station said: “We’re investigating an incident where two men were involved in an altercation with each other at the taxi rank on St Margaret Street during the early hours of Sunday.

“At least one of the men has suffered injuries and we are reviewing CCTV from the area to identify the other man involved.

“He is described as being in his 20s to early 30s, approximately 5ft 11in tall, blonde/fair hair, and was wearing a blue and white vertical striped shirt.

“We believe he had been within Lorenzo’s nightclub beforehand.

“I would appeal for that man to contact us as a matter of urgency if he recognises himself from the description.

“I’m appealing to anyone who has information regarding this incident or the man involved to contact us on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
