Police and the Scottish Ambulance Service were called to the scene shortly afterwards, and the man was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

He is thought to be in a stable condition. The driver of the Corsa was not injured in the accident.

The road was not closed, but police remained on the scene until 1.30pm to direct traffic.

Councillor John O’Brien was campaining in the area and heard the loud bang of the crash.

“I ran up and the boy was lying on the ground, his legs looked badly injured.

“I think as a Council we have to do more to educate young people about using motorbikes.”
