A Kirkcaldy man is to stand trial charged with killing a dad in an alleged street attack.
Grant Gay is accused of the culpable homicide of 60-year-old Lawrence Wallace.
It is alleged the 41-year-old assaulted Mr Wallace in the town’s Tolbooth Street on March 20 last year.
Prosecutors claim Mr Wallace was pushed and then struck on the face causing him to fall to the ground.
Gay, of Kirkcaldy, today (Monday) faced the allegation during a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
His lawyer Iain Paterson entered a not guilty plea and lodged a special defence of self defence.
Judge Lady Scott set a trial date for August 22 in Edinburgh.
The case is likely to last around five days.
Gay’s bail was continued.
