A LOCAL craft market has had to expand the number of stalls for its next event, on SaturdayJune 1, due to popular demand.

Falkland Craft Market was first held back in April and, much to the organisers delight, attracted visitors not only from the local area but from as far away as Yorkshire.

As a result, a decision has been made to expand next month’s market from 18 stalls to 27 - each offering an opportunity to showcase a wider variety of crafts.

Events organiser Caren Carter explained: “The first market was a roaring success and we have since been inundated with stallholders looking to book.

“Our waiting list for all our markets this year was expanding quickly so we took the decision to hire extra space at the Falkland Community Hall to allow more crafters to attend.

“The response has exceeded our expectations and the additional tables at the June market, along with the October and December markets, were fully booked within 24 hours.”

It is hoped the addition of jam, collectables, cupcakes and many more stalls will draw even bigger crowds and really put the market on the map.

Caren added: “We had a wonderful variety at the first event and are excited to offer more this time round to new and old visitors alike.”

The June 1 market runs from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Falkland Community Hall.

Entry is free.
