This year’s Markinch Highland Games take place bang in the middle of the four day official celebrations and holidays for the Queens Diamond Jubilee in June.

The celebrations are from June 2 until 5 with the games taking place on Sunday 3.

To celebrate the occasion the games will be staging two special races over a distance not usually run on the circuit.

The Diamond Jubilee 60 metres invitation handicap and veteran handicap will both be run on the famous Dixon Park ‘Chariots of Fire’ type string-laned track, the only one of its kind now on the entire circuit.

All the usual track and field events will take place including the £200 first prize Lomond Homes 90m handicap and Scottish 8000m Cycle Championship.
