Masterchef champion Gary MacLean is headlining this year’s Kirkcaldy Food and Drink Fair.
The 2016 winner of BBC’s Masterchef The Professionals competition will be at the event which takes place on Saturday, March 17.
It is being held in the atrium of Fife College’s St Brycedale Campus, and forms part of the town’s Festival of Ideas weekend which includes guests David Tennant and, co-host of the Great British Bake-Off, Sandi Toksvig, who is delivering the annual Adam Smith Lecture.
The food and drink fair has been organised by the college and Kirkcaldy4All – and it has had a big response from the industry.
The atrium will feature over 20 stalls as well as demonstrations and workshops, running from 11.00 am until 3.00 pm.
Bill Harvey, manager of Kirkcaldy 4 All, said: “Kirkcaldy’s Food and Drink Fair is just one part of a great programme of events planned for the Festival of Ideas – it’s definitely a date for the diary.”
Bryan McCabe of Fife College said: “The fair has been growing over the years and we are delighted to have been approached by so many independent producers who are showcasing some great local, regional and Scottish food and drink.
’’It’s free to attend, but you will want to have your wallet with you!”
Local chef, Tom Pratt, from The Waterfront, and award-winning students from the college will lead demonstrations during the day, and be joined by the Masterchef winner.
Gary (45), from Glasgow, teaches at the City of Glasgow College, has been the City of Glasgow College culinary team coach for many years, and won many national and international competitions.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to coming to Kirkcaldy, and using some of the wonderful local produce that comes from Fife in my demonstration.’’
Stalls in the atrium will include Aloha Shave Ice Bar, Pieroth Fine Wines, The Little Herb Farm, Growing Kirkcaldy, The Ecology Centre, Norvals Whisky, Edin-Burgers, Koku Shi, St Andrews Brewing Company, Cairn o’ Mohr Winery, Laura Janes Cakes and Bakes, Great Oil, Heavenly Goodies, The Versatile Vegetable, Erincroft Bakery, Brewsters Smallholding, Langoustine the Box, Lundin Distilling, Deliciously Dates, The Bakers Apprentice, Scottish Wildlife Trust, Paper and Jam Ltd, and the Arran Cheese Shop
