Meeting about Methilhill sinkholes

A public meeting about sinkholes and former mining works in Methilhill is to be held today (Wednesday).

The Coal Authority will be delivering a presentation and residents will be able to ask questions of council representatives.

It is hoped a representative of the land owner will be in attendance.

The meeting was organised following the sinkhole in Methilhill, which it later emerged was caused by historical mining.

Organiser Councillor Ryan Smart said: “I think this meeting is very important one to out the minds at ease for the people in Methilhill.”

The event will be held at Methilhill Bowling Club at 6.30pm.
