A TOTAL of 71 offences were detected by Fife Police in a second week of action targeting drivers on rural and country roads and young motorists.
The initiative saw an increased police presence with marked, unmarked and camera vehicles sent out in the north east Fife area over the weekend of October 12-14.
One third of the offences reported were committed by young drivers in the 17-25 years age group, and included offences such as speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and illegal use of mobile phones.
During the weekend, there were three crashes in north east Fife. No one was injured.
Despite the heavy rainfall leading to surface water and dangerous driving conditions, four drivers were caught speeding by the Fife Safety Camera Partnership mobile camera unit.
It is once again out and about in operation on the Kingdom’s roads this week.
Locally this includes the A915 road from Windygates to Kirkcaldy.
