Have you got what it takes to become part of the new Morrisons team in Kirkcaldy?

Well firstly you need to get through to their phone line which is permanently busy.

That was the scenario discovered by eager job seekers on Monday when the supermarket giant invited potential staff to get in touch by phone.

Two open days will be held on August 12 and 13 to recruit staff for the new Kirkcaldy store which is due to open this winter, however attendance is by appointment only and when locals tried to phone they found they couldn’t get through.

Joe Heggie (51) said, “I tried from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. and just kept on getting a message asking me to try again later.

“I tried on Tuesday morning too but it was just the same. It’s incredibly frustrating.

“I’m actively seeking employment but how can you get to work for Morrisons when you can’t get through?”

A spokesman for the company apologised for the problem and said there would be an investigation.

“We weren’t aware of any issues,” he said.

“Our system usually runs very smoothly so we apologise if anyone has been having trouble getting through.

“We will be looking into it and will have any issues resolved as soon as possible.”
