MP and MSP praise work being done at Homelands Trust

Homelands Trust-Fife was set up in 1998 to carry out the wishes of Miss Isabel Paxton, of Lundin Links, who bequeathed her estate, Homelands, to charity to establish a place where people affected by a range of disabling conditions could have a break.

The £2.2m facility, with breathtaking views over the Firth of Forth, has four luxury, accessible, self-catering holiday cottages and the adjacent Paxton Centre has a community cafe and therapy and meeting rooms.

Mr Gethins said: “North east Fife is becoming a centre for accessible tourism and Homelands plays a big part in that. It’s great asset to the area and I am very pleased to see it going from strength to strength.”

Jenny Gilruth, whose Mid Fife and Glenrothes constituency covers Lundin Links, said: “The service provided here by the Homelands Trust is superb and the accommodation is first class. The Paxton Centre is a fantastic facility for the local community, while the unique tourism opportunities opened up by Homeland’s specialist accommodation are great for the local area.

Jan Kerr, Homelands secretary, said the facility was growing in popularity, adding: “Ninety-nine per cent of people who come here have some sort of disability and they know that everything is here for them.” Interest had been received from as far as Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands.
