MSP Tricia Marwick has welcomed news that the blocked drains in the village of Kinglassie have been cleared by Fife Council.
A number of drains in the village were in a poor condition and had not been cleared for a long time. After being informed of this issue by the Kinglassie Action Group, Mrs Marwick demanded the drains be cleared as a matter of priority. A Fife Council cleaning crew worked in the village and the bulk of the drains have now been cleared.
Mrs Marwick said: “I am pleased that action has been taken to clear the majority of the drains in Kinglassie.
“Many of the drains were in a very poor condition and were choked with dirt and grit. The drains were also flooding when there was a heavy rainfall.
“While this may not appear to be a big issue to some, it is vital that all aspects of Kinglassie are maintained to an acceptable standard. Judging by the condition of some of the drains in the village, it is clear that this was not the case.
“Kinglassie Action Group, and in particular its Secretary, Allan Taaffe, deserve great credit for their persistence to ensure Fife Council cleared the drains. I have been delighted to work with them since I became the village’s MSP last year.”
