Music, dancing and fun for Kirkcaldy Foodbank

A sell-out crowd enjoyed dancing the night away to the music of the Clamjamfray Ceilidh Band.

St Pius Church kindly provided its hall for the event which was organised by a team of energetic volunteers led by Wendy Law, Angela Campbell and Angela Gourlay.

Generous raffle prizes had been donated by volunteers and friends of the Foodbank and there was no shortage of buyers for tickets.

Wendy Law, organiser, reported that a total of £1200 had been raised. “We are just delighted”, she said. “Only a few weeks ago we were worried about not selling enough tickets and now we have a sell-out.”

Coming together for a great evening were Foodbank volunteers who regularly give their time to collect, sort and distribute food at the Foodbank’s main hub in Dysart and other venues throughout Kirkcaldy and Burntisland.

Louise Lyttle who has been volunteering at the Dysart St Clair hub for three years said there was a really friendly atmosphere: “You really get to know people volunteering and it’s good to see them tonight in a different context.”

Dancing the Flying Scotsman, Dashing White Sergeant and Strip the Willow were Foodbank referrers, volunteer agency partners and Foodbank supporters.

Ian Campbell, chairman, told the audience: “It’s just great to be able to raise money for such a good cause and thanks are due to all who worked so hard to make it a success.

“However, the other bonus is that all the different groups connected with Kirkcaldy Foodbank have come together to share a social evening and enjoy being together.”
