Mystery over woman found injured at flats

A woman has been taken to hospital after being found injured in the stairwell of a block of flats.

The alarm was raised last night in St Andrews after a woman was discovered in the stairwell, reportedly covered in blood.

Police confirmed that they are investigating the circumstances which led up to her injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police in Fife were called to an address in Abbey Park Avenue, St Andrews, around 11pm on Wednesday, January 31, following a report that a woman had been found injured.

She was taken to Ninewells Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding this.

“Anyone who may have information which can help can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3876 of January 31.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 10:44pm last night and sent a crew to Freeborn Court.

“The crew arrived on scene at 10:50pm.

“We treated a 40-year-old female patient who was conveyed to Ninewells.”
