The club, set to transform the old Ambassadeur snooker club in North Street, is scheduled to open in February 2017.

Owner Lee Murray confirmed work will start on a £500,000 refit next week and the club will create at least 20 jobs.

He also explained why chose to name club ‘Truth’.

“I wanted a single word that couldn’t be mucked about with,” he said.

“I also wanted to silence those who doubted me by showing them I am investing in the town and trying to make Leven a better place; that’s the ‘truth’.

“In this day and age everybody seems to lie and there’s no truth. Where we are in the world, the truth is more powerful than it’s ever been.”

The club - which will have capacity for 600 people and has an all-day licence until 2am - is yet another business in Lee’s local portfolio, which already incudes McPhail’s and Base.

The building was previously owned by the Caira family who considered transforming the snooker hall into a club a few years ago.

The plan, however, met with opposition from neighbours who cited noise issues as a concern.

Lee Murray bought the building two years ago and had originally considered making it a business hub before changing his mind.

“It had lain dormant since the snooker club closed in 2006 but, to be honest, it wasn’t in that bad condition,” he said.

“It will be totally fitted out and the layout will be really cool with an industrial feel and exposed brickwork on the ground floor, like 1920’s American prohibition

“Upstairs, there will be toilets and a chillout zone in a art deco style in keeping with the building.”

Lee believes the club will immediately create aroud 20 jobs but that figure could rise to 50 when indirect positions, such as doormen and entertainment, are factored in.

He aims to make ‘Truth’ the number one club in Leven.

“It’s right in the centre of town, the perfect location,” he said.
