A new community group set up in Woodside has received the backing of one of its local councillors this week.
‘We R Woodside’ is a new community focused group made up of a small steering committee of representatives of the Carleton Primary School parent council, Glenrothes Rugby Club and senior pupils of Auchmuty High School, and has already held several meetings supported by the staff of the Lomond Centre, Fife Council’s Community Learning and Development Department and Councillor Ian Sloan.
Cllr Sloan said: “Woodside does not currently have either a community council or a tenants and residents group to take forward the interests of the area.”
He added: “With the forming of We R Woodside, it’s a chance to promote the local community and I urge local people in the area to give it their support.
“We are now ready to move forward with a survey asking the residents of Woodside what they think is good about the area and what will make it an even better place to live in.
“It will be available from the Lomond Centre, Spar Supermarket in Bighty Avenue, Carleton Primary School and the Rugby Club.”
The group now plan to host a public meeting on Tuesday, March 17 in the Lomond Centre from 7.00 p.m. to present their findings.
“This is a great opportunity for the community with the potential to improve the local area,” said Mr Sloan.
