New year date for club move triggers town centre redevelopment plans

A new chapter beckons for one of Fife's most popular social clubs with the confirmation that the CISWO Club in Glenrothes will move into its new facility in the first weeks of the new year.

Detailed drawings have been presented to the club’s committee with developer Easy Living Developments confident the refurbishment and extension of the former Fife Council social work building is progressing without delay.

“Sometimes there are issues that halt your progress but with respect to the former office block we’ve had no such problems,” Keith Davidson, Easy Living’s CEO told the Gazette.

And with a main function area in excess of 4300 sq,ft, and with a capacity of 573, as well as several other function rooms, meeting facilities, restaurant, games room and office space, the club will exchange the North Street address it has held for over 60 years for that of 390 South Street.

The development is also expected to strengthen the town’s position as one of the key venues on the lucrative live darts circuit.

The existing CISWO Club has already hosted a number of international tournaments int he last two years and the British Darts Organisation (BDO) have already expressed an interest in bringing more event s to the town once the new venue is completed.

Demolition of the current CISWO building is set for January 2017 with the North Street redevelopment, which is will bring a number of new retail and food outlets including a proposed Marks and Spencer food hall, is due for a September completion.
