It’s that time of year again...the Links Market is back in the Lang Toun!
I usually enjoy taking a wander along the Esplanade to take in the sights and sounds of the fair and this year will probably be no exception. I have to say I’m not really a fun of roller coasters or rides that send you up in the air at speed before rapidly dropping you back down again - I’m getting far too old for that! I don’t mind the walzers or the dodgems or rides that propel you into mid-air (as long as it’s not done too fast!) It’s not so much jumping on all the rides I like but rather just taking a walk-through - preferably with a poke of chips or candy floss in hand. Plus the rides can be very expensive. I have heard of families heading along to the market and easily spending £100 on various attractions! I miss the days when you could win a goldfish in a water-filled plastic bag (a prize which probably doesn’t exist anymore due to animal welfare concerns) or take part in traditional games like throwing balls at perched coconuts. That type of entertainment was very simple but a lot of fun! The log flumes are back this year so I may be persuaded to have a go on that over the weekend - as long as it’s not too cold!
What to wear: I am very much looking forward to a friend’s wedding at the weekend. The only problem I have is what to wear for the occasion. It is an evening reception and the question is do I look out a dress I have already worn at previous weddings or do I buy something new? I have plenty of outfits and there are no doubt some that I have only worn on one occasion. So I suppose it makes sense to get the use out of it and wear one of them. Am looking forward to dancing the night away with friends and seeing the bride in her outfit. The wedding is being held in Glasgow and I always enjoy a trip through to the city, it certainly makes a change from a night out in Kirkcaldy!
This week: Heading along to the Links Market ... hoping for some nice weather at the weekend ... planning a much-needed break away
