The network of support established across Kirkcaldy throughout the coronavirus pandemic has been outstanding.

Many families will be forever grateful for the donations of food, and assistance with bills.

But they will also never forget the kindness that came to their door in a time of great uncertainity and difficulty.

The team at the Cottage Centre could tell you hearbreaking story after heartbreaking story of people facing a daily existence with very little –many of them in that situation for the very first time, and unaware where to turn for help.

Thanks to the remarkable support from the community, the centre has been able to help thousands.

But, as lockdown restrictions ease, its work is far from done.

That is why we are more than happy to back their ‘Fuel A Family’ appeal .

Our daily commutes have been curtailed for the past three months.

We have all spent significantly less on petrol and diesel, and saved on the cost of taxis, trains and buses.

If you are in a position to donate some of that to the Cottage Centre’s appeal, please consider doing so.

We are defined by how we look after our most vulnerable citizens – and every single penny donated will do good.

More than that, it strengthens the bonds between people isolated, scared, exhausted and worried, with the community around them.

It gives them hope.

And that is the most precious commodity of all.

The appeal will help sustain support for so many local families; people who live on your street, go to your shops, and use the same parks and open spaces.

Every appeal we have reported on during the pandemic has smashed its target in record time, because people care.

We ask to you help once more.
