I know a lot of people will have watched this series when it was on television, but I was one of those who was a little behind the times.
It was a friend who recommended the series to me and I recently undertook a bit of a box set marathon.
There’s 10 episodes in series one and with each around an hour long they are in manageable chunks.
The fantasy adventure series sees the noble House Stark, led by Lord Ned Stark (Sean Bean), drawn into schemes against King Robert Baratheon when the Hand of the King Jon Arryn (Robert’s chief advisor) dies mysteriously.
Ned Stark must travel south to discover who killed Jon Arryn while protecting his family from rivals the Lannisters.
The series is based on the first novel in George R. R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series.
Once you get over the initial confusion of who is who, this first series of ‘Game of Thrones’ is an easy and compelling watch.
