Kinghorn Parish Church
Did you give what you’d like to receive this Christmas and receive what you’d like to give? I suppose that’s a good measure of giving, would we value it and use it ourselves and not let it gather dust or take it to the charity shop.
The teenagers of Kinghorn and Burntisland Churches YF who spent time in Malawi this past summer have brought back many lessons for us, one of which is that our ‘wants’ aren’t always the same as our ‘needs’, wisdom is knowing the difference and being satisfied with what we have and what we’ve been given. We can be sure that God knows our needs and that shaped his purpose in giving Jesus.
The Gospel could have been “God loved his son so much that he gave him the world” but what it does say is this “God loved the world so much that he gave his son”
If our greatest need had been information ...God would have sent us teacher; If our greatest need had been technology ...God would have sent us a scientist; If our greatest need had been money ...God would have sent us an economist; If our greatest need had been pleasure ...God would have sent us an entertainer; But our greatest need was forgiveness ...So God sent us a Saviour.
