My Week: Fiona Purnell

It’s that time of year again... yip, you’ve guessed it, Wimbledon.

Time to bring out the strawberries and cream and expect to see nothing else on the BBC other than folk blasting a ball at each other at tremendous speeds across a net.

But the big question is, can Andy Murray win the title this year?

I was backing him before the tournament started, and following Nadal’s shock first round exit on Monday things look to be setting themselves up nicely - just Djokovic and Federer to remove from the equation.

However, I’m trying not to get too carried away and am wondering if the country’s media will refrain too (unlikely I guess).

Anything could happen and given it’s been so long since a Brit won Wimbledon’s male title (Fred Perry in1936) he’s under a lot of pressure. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Fingers crossed there won’t be a repeat of last year’s blubbering from Andy and instead I’m hoping for a repeat of his Olympic performance.

Talent show: I’m not usually one for TV talent shows, but I found myself following ‘The Voice’ this year.

Saturday was the final and there seemed to be a bit of shock as the bookies’ favourite Leah lost out to Team Danny’s Andrea.

I’ve nothing against Andrea’s voice, gees she can sing, it’s just she’s not really anything different to what we’ve heard before.

Leah,’s finalist seemed to have the edge for me in terms of something different and I can actually see her having a successful music career.

So perhaps for Leah, not winning was for the best.

I’m pretty sure’s already signed her up and is ready to produce her record himself. I mean what happened to last year’s ‘The Voice’ winner, eh, what was her name?
