RIP Jocky: SAD to hear of the passing of Jocky Wilson. The list of world champions from Kirkcaldy is not a long one but for a short period of time in the 80s, sports fans everywhere knew that was where Jocky was from.

He undoubtedly helped make darts the popular game it is today but he was a complicated character and in the end, success and fame became an unwelcome burden.

In a previous role, I tried unsuccessfully three times to speak to him and it’s a shame that now, Jocky’s own side of the story will never be told.

And while he probably would have hated the idea, surely it is time for the town to recognise his achievements and have a permanent memorial to the little man who made a big impression.

Going down: INCREDIBLE that it will be 100 years since the Titanic sank in April, and we’re certainly not going to forget it, given the number of television programmes on the event that are on at the moment, not to mention the unnecessary re-release in cinemas of Kate and Leo’s Oscar winning ‘epic’.

It is a fascinating subject mind you and there always seems to be new evidence and stories uncovered even after all this time.

That’s why I prefer the documentaries which try to shed some light on the real circumstances and people involved, rather than the dramatised accounts which tend to overly romanticise what, in the end, was a man-made tragedy.

Sun shock: WE’VE been having some unseasonly nice weather over the past few days which has no doubt been enjoyed by those not stuck in an office all day...

However, the first glimpse of spring sunshine does have its drawbacks, mainly in the form of that strange breed of creatures who take it as an encouragement to look out their summer wardrobe as if it was Tenerife in June, not Kirkcaldy in March.

Sometimes less is more, especially when it comes to exposing areas of fleshy white bits. Please, just put it away...

And finally: FOLLOWING on from revelations of my accident prone spell, I’m glad to report I have been relatively unscathed recently, except for one incident when I opened an overhead cupboard and was hit on the head by something falling out - a first aid kit...
