I can’t believe that I’ve had this book in my possession for two years now and that’s me just got around to reading it.
As a massive Clash fan, I love reading anything about the band and their rebellious front man.
The definitive biography of Joe Strummer, was written by Chris Salewicz, a close friend of Strummer’s for 25 years so it really brings a personal touch to the book. It draws on more than 300 interviews with family, friends and gives a comprehensive, compelling insight into the man behind The Clash.
The Clash was the most influential band of its generation, producing punk anthems that helped cement them as the ultimate rebellious icons.
With his talent, extreme good looks and laid-back attitude Joe Strummer was the driving force behind the band.
His death in 2002 shook me to my little core and this book details the life of the man that I put up on a punk pedastal.
Not just for fans, although they will be sure to love it, but this book should be read by everyone.
