Bullock, virtually reprising her uptight FBI agent role from ‘Miss Congeniality’, is a great comic actress who never allows her performance to distract from the action.
McCarthy on the other hand, is in danger of becoming a cliche, her loud-mouthed, lovable loser persona indistinguishable from ‘Bridesmaids’, ‘Identity Thief’ and now this. That’s not to say she’s not funny but it would be nice to see her take it down a notch rather than just blast across the screen with her fast-talking wisecracks.
The film sees Bullock as an ambitious FBI agent who is sent to Boston to uncover the identity of an elusive drug lord but is forced to team up with a local cop (McCarthy), who is the opposite of everything she stands for. But they soon find they must work together to bring down the bad guy. Predictable but it has its share of funny moments.
