A relentlessly cheerful construction worker called Emmet Brickowski happens upon a brick, touches it, experiences strange visions, passes out and upon waking finds it attached to his back.

Emmet has unwittingly found the ‘Piece of Resistance’ and become ‘the Special’ the one person - who happens to be made of Lego of course - who can stop the evil Lord Business from freezing the world with Kragle.

Teaming up with the Master Builders Vitruvius, Wyldstyle and her boyfriend, erm, Batman, Emmet sets out to save the world, as you do.

It’s an imaginative and wonderfully creative visual feast, the animation being quite superb.

It’s also not scared to show some intelligence, with a clever sub plot involving a parallel human world and a great twist at the end.

This is a hugely entertaining film which is as funny as it is an astonishing achievement.

And there’s plenty of sly in- jokes, making sure that you don’t have to be a child to enjoy it.
