The ‘Solidarity for Humanity’ gathering will start at 7pm outside Kirkcaldy town house.

Organiser Amby Stanyer Hunter said: “There are vigils taking place in Scottish cities but I thought why can’t people in Fife do something? Not everyone is able to go to Edinburgh.”

Gunman Omar Mateen killed 49 people at the gay nightclub, Pulse on Sunday.

Fifty three people were wounded and six remain in a critical condition.

The incident has been described as the worst mass shooting in recent US history.

Amby commented: “This is a peaceful vigil in recognition of not only those who lost their lives in Orlando, but those who have lost their lives for no other reason than ignorance, hate and fear from others, and for those who live a life of persecution every day, through no fault of their own.”
