A GROUP of paddlers and cyclists have completed their mammoth mission to paddle and then cycle 107 miles from Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre to Fife.

Staff from Lochgoilhead took on the trek to raise funds to buy the buildings and grounds, still owned by Fife Council, and upgrade them for future generations to use.

Organisers are not sure how much money they have raised yet but George Bruce, the chief executive of the trust which operates Ardroy, was delighted with the efforts of all those involved and the publicity their efforts brought their plight.

The trust’s current rental agreement with Fife Council ends in 2016 but it is hoping to appeal to Fifers, of whom many visited Ardroy on school trips as children, to donate to help raise the £1 million needed.

George added: “We know that ten of thousands of people have learned valuable life lessons from their time at Ardroy, and if we are to offer this vital opportunity to future generations, then your financial assistance is both very important, and much appreciated.”
