The festive season is fast approaching and there’s no better way to celebrate the return of the Byre Theatre than with a spectacular new pantomime – ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’!
Running from November 27 until January 3, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ will be a theatrical extravaganza worthy of the Byre’s boards, which have been trodden by international stars of stage and screen throughout the theatre’s long history.
This unique version of the classic pantomime tale has been written and directed by Gordon Barr and follows Jack’s journey up into the giant’s kingdom, but there’s a distinctly ‘Fife’ flavour to the plot!
Gordon is artistic director of ‘Bard in the Botanics’ in Glasgow, and the same creative genius responsible for the Byre’s hugely successful ‘Snow White’ pantomime in 2012, so audiences can expect a real theatrical treat.
Along with tunes ranging from recent chart hits to songs from the seventies, Jack and the Beanstalk is bursting with a plethora of twists, turns and surprises that will keep the young and old alike gripping the edge of their seats in anticipation.
Side-splitting comedy and audience participation (if you’ve got the beans for it!) also make it a great trip out for the whole family.
The pantomime marks the beginning of an exciting new era for the Byre Theatre, so go along and help Jack and Dame Nellie Numpty save Christmas and their cowshed – their beloved byre!
