Police in Kirkcaldy are appealing for witnesses after parts were dismantled and stolen from a JCB over the weekend.
The JCB JS260 Excavator, belonging to the Alcan Site on the B923 Kinghorn to Burntisland, was targeted between Friday, January 9, and Monday, January 12.
It’s the third time in recent weeks that the site has been targeted. Previously, quantities of diesel and generators have been stolen.
On this occasion, the value of the parts, which include a fuel injection system and drive shafts, and damage is in excess of £8000.
Sergeant Ian Geddes said: “These are specialist items so it appears to us as if they have been stolen to order.
“I would appeal to anyone who has information as to who is responsible, or where the stolen items may have been sold onto, to come forward.”
Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
