Commuters travelling through Fife were caught up in a train fire drama yesterday.
Passengers were evacuated from a carriage after a Virgin Trains east coast train just before it reached Leuchars.
It was en route from Leeds to Aberdeen at the time of the incident around 11.30 a.m.
The fire led to significant disruption to other trains, with several ScotRail services cancelled.
The train was terminated at Leuchars after smoke was seen coming from the engine.
Some passengers were moved to another carriage as fire crews attended – three appliances were mobilised and ensured the train and the area were made safe before leaving the scene around 1.00p.m.
The train was later towed by another locomotive back to the Craigentinny depot in Edinburgh.
