Young DJ Jayson, aka Jayson McDonald, has been doing shows on his Facebook page, dancing along to popular songs, helping to keep kids and adults throughout the UK entertained during lockdown.

Jayson started DJing four years ago and has built up his own business, performing at local schools, parties – for kids and adults – East Fife FC events and more.

After the lockdown came into effect, Jayson saw a video online of another DJ doing a show and wanted to do his own.

“I thought I’d give it a go and see how many people would watch it,” he said. “Everyone seems to be enjoying it.

“I like doing this type of stuff and getting involved with the kids.”

The Levenmouth Academy pupil is also branching out into merchandising, after he was given his own DJ Jayson t-shirt by printers, Patterson Prints.

He has also started hosting virtual birthday parties.

He is following in the footsteps of his grandad, Thomas, who used to be in a band and also DJed. He helped Jayson get started and bought him some of the equipment he would need.

“He started off in bands and played in local pubs,” said Jayson’s mum, Claire.

“He did tours and travelled around the world.”

Claire said Jayson is “great” with kids, adding: “He has a lot of patience with kids. It’s good to see their wee faces lighting up. It keeps them entertained.

“We’re super proud. He’s achieved so much. It’s just been mad this last couple of weeks.”
