19 Fife schools now linked to positive COVID cases

The number of schools and nurseries across Fife being investigated for links to positive COVID cases has risen to 19.

NHS Fife confirmed the total in its latest update on the work of its public health test and protect team.

It has been investigating a number of additional COVID-19 cases at schools since the last update on Friday.

The latest list includes two nurseries, nine primaries and eight secondary schools across the region.

There are single positive COVID canvases linked to the nurseries at Capshard Primary School in Kirkcaldy, and McLean Primary School in Dunfermline.

Pathhead Primary School in Kirkcaldy remains closed because of staffing issues with seven positive COVID cases linked to it.

There are three positive cases associated with Carnegie Primary in Dunfermline, and two at Kennoway and Caskieberran Primaries.

NHS Fife also confirmed single cases linked to Buckhaven, Kinglassie, McLean, St Kenneth’s, and Warout Primary Schools.

The latest update said there were four cases linked to Kirkcaldy High School, and three at Viewforth High School in the town.

Auchmuty High School, Glenrothes, has had two positive cases linked to it since the last update, while there were single cases at Glenrothes High School; Bell Baxter High School, Cupar; Levenmouth Academy, Queen Anne High School, Dunfermline; and Waid Academy in Anstruther.

NHS Fife said where there is more than one confirmed case, this does not necessarily suggest transmission within the school and may relate to a sibling or household group, or it may be separate incidences of community-acquired infection.
