Asda Kirkcaldy worker wins national award for going extra mile in lockdown

A Kirkcaldy woman has scooped a top award in Asda’s celebration of its top staff.

Hannah McGowan, an online service colleague at the Kirkcaldy store was named ‘Colleague Hero of The Year in the retailer’s ‘Proud to be Asda’ 2020 awards.

The initiative celebrates staff who have gone above and beyond in their roles, especially during lockdown.

Hannah’s innovative efforts led to a 24-hour prescription turnaround, ensuring the pharmacy was working as efficiently as possible for each customer during lockdown.

Mark Johnston, customer trading manager at Asda Kirkcaldy said: “This is certainly not a one-off for Hannah – I have so many examples that would justify why she was nominated for and won this award."

Hannah said: “I am always in the mindset that I’m just doing my job, but my colleagues reassure me that maybe I am going that bit further.“Without all of them, we wouldn’t be able to do these things and go the extra mile for our customers.”
