Bin routes around east Fife have been disrupted as a result of a fire which broke out in Cupar's trading estate on Tuesday.

The blaze meant that normal collection schedules could not be adhered to.

The disruption affected Kennoway's paper bins and landfill bins for Leuchars, Guardbridge, Anstruther and Cellardyke.

The council will be catching up with the routes on Saturday and hope things will be back to normal next week.

Sandy Anderson waste operations service manager with Fife council said: "Due to a major incident in Cupar earlier in the week we’ve had to relocate our bin lorries and crews.

“This has resulted in some disruption to services in the east of Fife.

"We’re aiming to provide a normal service as much as we can but may have problems due to increased travel time from out short-term base.

"If your bin isn’t emptied on the scheduled day please leave them at the kerbside and crews will get back to you as soon as they possibly can. "

The council has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
