Alister Reid, owner of the 1B Westport Cupar, which was among the food venues forced to close its doors this week, has launched a YouTube channel teaching viewers how to cook.

So far, Alister has made cheese scones, cheesecakes and fish and chips, with all the clips filmed at his Bonnygate cafe.

The latter recipe was made using haddock purchased from a Pittenweem business, as Alister aims to use the videos to help show off some of the great food we have here in the Kingdom.

“It focuses on local artisan producers and shows off the quality on our own doorstep,” he said.

People might travel further for food because it is cheaper, but the quality here is always second to none.

“There is so much local produce on your doorstep.

“There are a lot of new food businesses and good chefs in Cupar, and a lot of good food.”

As well as showing off local produce, Alister also aims to encourage Fifers to do more cooking themselves – and now might be the best time to learn.

“It’s supposed to be fun,” said Alister, who launched his own book, mixing his passions for cooking and paranormal activity. “I’m trying to show that you can enjoy it. The videos are always something I’ve always wanted to do. I thought ‘I like making videos and I can cook’.”
